Description of Hastelloy C276 Grade Materials

Chemical Properties:

1. Corrosion Resistance: Hastelloy C276 exhibits excellent resistance to a wide variety of chemical environments, including strong oxidizers like ferric and cupric chlorides, hot contaminated organic and inorganic media, chlorine, formic and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, seawater, and brine solutions.
2. Alloy Composition: It primarily consists of nickel, molybdenum, and chromium, with additions of tungsten to enhance its overall corrosion resistance. The typical composition includes:
   • Nickel (Ni): 57%
   • Molybdenum (Mo): 16%
   • Chromium (Cr): 15.5%
   • Iron (Fe): 5%
   • Tungsten (W): 3.8%
   • Cobalt (Co): 2.5%
   • Manganese (Mn): 1%
   • Others: Trace amounts of carbon, silicon, sulfur, and vanadium.

Mechanical Properties:

1. Strength: Hastelloy C276 demonstrates high tensile strength and yield strength, which provides robustness and reliability in demanding applications.
   • Tensile Strength: Typically around 100 ksi (690 MPa)
   • Yield Strength: Typically around 41 ksi (283 MPa)
2. Ductility: It has excellent ductility and can be easily formed and welded.
   • Elongation: Approximately 50%
3. Hardness: Exhibits good hardness, providing wear resistance in various conditions.
   • Hardness: Rockwell B hardness is typically around 90-100.
